Q Watch

Quick® has complemented its product range with a technology breaking Q Watch™ external Wireless PIR sensor.

This tough weatherproof PIR meets BS8418 requirements and sets a new standard in wireless PIR technology.

Directly compatible with the Q Hub™ system Battery operated, these wireless transmission PIRs interface seamlessly into the Q Hub™ system. With the receiving aerial in place up to 64 detectors can be strategically installed to fully protect assets, all with no wires.

The detector constantly communicates with the Q Hub system advising of faults or tampers as well as its battery condition and signal strength. If the battery voltage falls below the minimum level or if the PIR is removed or tampered with in any way it will be alerted on the system.

Reduced installation time and cost CCTV Systems deploying the Q Watch™ PIR significantly reduce installation time and cost as cabling from the detector to the dome or controller has been replaced by radio signal.

APPLICATION The Q Watch™ has been designed to be used with CCTV installations. Q Watch™ accuracy of detection and ability to trigger preset views on static, dome or PTZ cameras make them extremely effective on manned CCTV installations where the operator is quickly alerted to activity within a specific zone.

Event driven CCTV Where CCTV installations are remotely monitored, PIRs can activate video transmission systems which in turn trigger programmable events such as calling a central station or activate relay contacts to control gates, lights etc.

A variety of applications include perimeter fence protection, schools, commercial storage areas, construction sites, retail warehouses, showroom forecourts and container lorry parks.

INSTALLATION The Q WalkTEST™ meter makes setting up and walk testing intuitive.

    • 1. Fix the receiver aerial in a convenient location on the site building
    • 2. Connect the aerial cable DIRECTLY to the RS232 Com Port on the Q Hub
    • 3. Verify the signal strength at all the intended PIR locations using the Q WalkTest™ meter. The device has an exceptional transmission distance of up to 1km line of sight, or greater if repeaters are used. The system will work through walls and buildings.
    • 4. Install the Q Watch™ PIR batteries and fix in place

Assign each PIR with its own alphanumeric ID The walk test meter has an audible bleep and LCD display which indicates PIR ID, site code, signal strength, battery state and PIR name. A key pad allows the engineer to filter out all the other PIR's on the site so that he can concentrate on one PIR at a time if required. If used with the Q Hub, an alphanumeric name can be assigned to each PIR e.g. Gate one, ABC Ltd, Anytown.

Install on poles… The Q Watch bracket has been designed to be wall mounted or strapped to various diameter poles using 11mm banding or jubilee clips. The screw heads of the banding or clips can be cleverly concealed within the wall plate.

IN-BUILT INTELLIGENCE The Q Watch PIR is micro processor based and uses a look up table to evaluate the condition. Recognised detections such as movement of trees, small animals etc are filtered out. Ambient temperature changes and background activity are constantly monitored and the PIR adjusts its parameters accordingly.

For added peace of mind the Q Hub polls each of its PIR's every 15 minutes in order to verify if it's still there and register any change in condition. A change in PIR status is reported directly to the Q Hub which in turn can transmit an SMS text message to a technician's mobile phone.

Battery powered The PIR power consumption is ultra low at 100 micro amps and is powered by two ordinary alkaline 7.75 a/h 1.5 volt C cells which are easily obtainable and installed. Under normal conditions and allowing for four polling commands each hour, the battery life will be in excess of one year. The battery condition of all the PIR's on the system can be viewed remotely via the Q Hub. The walk test instrument and pager can also show the signal strength and battery condition of each PIR.

Benefit from 4 signal outputs and NO hard wiring… If used with Q Hub control centre the PIR's four signal outputs, anti tamper, anti cloak, anti shock and battery status are wirelessly transmitted to the Q Hub's inbuilt PIR transceiver card. No hard wiring of contacts is necessary at the Q Hub control end as the Hub™ will detect these PIRs and treat them the same as any hard wired input.

BS8418 COMPLIANT In order to comply to BS8418 the detector need only have an anti tamper capability. Quick® have gone much further in introducing various types of tamper such as anti cloaking and shock as well as the basic tamper switch. Also the transmission code has encryption and rolling codes so that the RF link cannot be mimicked. The masthead also detects radio jamming. These features go far beyond the current requirement of the BS specification.

RF IMMUNE Q Watch™ is RF immune up to and beyond the CE requirements. The circuit board design and RF screening are key factors to the immunity as well as software filtering and circuit design.

Licence exempt, the PIR transmits within the specification allowable for the 434 MHz Pan European Band. It does not radiate any other spurious signals.

OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE Connected to the PIR's micro controller is a temperature sensor. As the ambient temperature varies so does the sensitivity of the detector. This helps maintain optimum performance in all weather conditions.

INSTALL THEM WHERE YOU WANT TO With no wiring restrictions, Q Watch PIRs can be installed where you want them in order to maximise effective coverage.

The PIRs can be easily re-positioned to gain improved signal strength and coverage.

Tough vandal resistant construction The Q Watch™ detector is made of 3mm thick polycarbonate which is very strong and absorbs shock without sustaining damage. The brackets are locked in position using stainless steel socket cap screws. When these screws are tightened, excessive force is required to move the detector and such movement would activate the shock sensor

Completely waterproof The PIR detector is totally submersible IP67 rated
